So, I was sitting in the first seminar of International Dispute Settlement, and as we reached the distinction between conflict, dispute, and crisis, a thought popped into my head. In my notes, there is now a footnote regarding what sort of role metahumans would have in an international dispute resolution system. Would individuals with unusual powers be classified, like weapons? Would they keep their national allegiance? Or, would they be considered an extra-national group? (Why yes, I was reading the Warren Ellis run of Stormwatch last night, why do you ask?) It's just a pity I can't talk about this with anyone in my class, lest they think me insane or something -

It's been two lovely weekends - one in Oxford, one in London. Among other things, I have attended two fine parties (one engagement, one birthday - Congratulations! to all), gone to a new club (on Batman Night, no less), had tea ceremony class (learning to fold the fukusa), done some useful shopping, met and spent time with many old friends, and hopefully, made some new ones.

In the interim, I have also relived my Fresher experience - dinner in hall (this time with post-Harry Potter vibes) and the inevitable Faire (Middle Eastern Dance, possible Tai Chi or Aikido, and likely Taruithorn, now that the Arthurians are no more) but this time, I could do it all efficiently, and get what I wanted out of the experience. (Mind you, I did feel ancient and decrepit at several points in the process - see above, and also when no one at the RPGSoc booth could remember anyone that I could.) And, best of all, I have resumed my old place as an Invigilator at Balliol Library. Now, it's back to the books, as I try to figure out whether I have or can develop sufficient comfort with old statutes and commentators to do the legal history option.

Top Five:

1. In-Room Ethernet - With this and my mini-fridge, I may never leave halls again.
2. HoYay - Which, I am assured is back with a vengeance on Smallville, Season Three.
3. Grocery Shopping - Fresh food of good variety, without expense or unhealthiness.
4. Neal Stephenson - He's grown on me since Cryptonomicon - I have his new doorstop.
5. Fitness Arena - I'm a member at last - plus, it makes my bus pass a better value.
