I Desire Nothing More Than I Get
Jun. 20th, 2004 11:15 amI wonder what it says about me, seeing as that's how I hear the lyrics to that particular song. (Apparently the word is "deserve" not "desire" - amusing in a vague sort of way, I suppose.) With nary a tutorial or lecture left in sight, I have now reached the two-week countdown. I'm not doing as much work as I should or could (seeing as I snuck away to see Cyrano De Bergerac last night, I've no excuse)but almost everything else is out of the way. Library work, some development work, and exercise. Oh, and maybe one last punting expedition, if there are any takers? (Last day 26/6/04...)
Applications for assisting in the supervision and pastoral care of undergraduates have been disheartening. I think I'm just not intimidating enough, it can't be believed that I would scare the kids into line. Yet seeing as how that's how it is, I am planning to move my room selection to the least expensive I can find - it's located in Martin Annexe in any case, making moving just that much easier.
Escape velocity approaches - I have decided to go to Brussels, just because I like the train, and then I have a library project for two weeks. Home to Hawaii, visits to the Bay Area and Montana (if I can manage it), then back to Oxford for a development project and (I hope) the research degree. I have a backup plan, though -if it all goes horribly wrong, I plan apply to ZC and get some contract work if I can - and then perhaps it's time to seriously consider going away to sea.
